Q: Can I bring my own fishing gear?
A: Yes if you are on a private exclusive charter, although we are equipped for any eventuality with top of the line gear.
Q: Do we need to bring anything?
A: Casual beach wear, sunglasses, caps, and cameras. We have lots of ice and bottled water on board. You are welcome to bring alcoholic beverages and soft drinks. On all day private charters we provide lunch.
Q: How much fishing experience is required?
A: None. For the keikis (younger) set we have light tackle on board for near shore reef fishing. We are here to assist you in any type of fishing you desire.
Q: Is seasickness a problem?
A: Located in the middle of the Pacific Ocean, many people experience motion sickness to some degree. To some, it is a minor discomfort, for others it very unpleasant. If you think that you might have a problem, visit your family physician and see if can get a prescription for the ear patch. It seems like the best remedy.
Q: What is the cancellation policy?
A: None for private charters.
For share charters, your $200 deposit is forfeited if the reservation is canceled within 5 days of trip. Your share charter deposit may be returned for weather or maintenance problems.
Q: What is the fish catch policy
A: On the island of Kauai, fishing charters normally reserve the right to the fish, but everyone shares the catch: The amount varies from boat to boat. The Happy Hunter II’s policy is that clients are welcome to the first 25 lbs of fish caught. We will also clean and bag your catch for along with recipes on how to prepare them.
Q: Is there any kind of discount?
A: Yes. On all private charters, active duty members of the armed forces, veterans, police and firefighters as well as police and fire retirees can receive an extra hour of fishing worth $150. Combat veterans who are recipients of the Purple Heart get 2 hours extra valued at $300. We would like to take this opportunity to thank all who are serving and those who have served.
