HARRY SHIGEKANE
Captain and Owner of Action Plus Adventures, Harry has
fished all his of life in Hawaii. He has been deep-sea
fishing since 1975. Captain Harry has won various tournaments
in Kauai and Oahu. He acquired his captain’s license
in 1979 and has been fishing recreationally and commercially
since that time. As a combat helicopter pilot in Vietnam,
he was the recipient of two Distinguished Flying Crosses.
Utilizing his flying experience he spent eight years
crop dusting the sugar fields in the State and then
started helicopter flight seeing tours on the Island
of Kauai along with Napali Coast snorkeling adventures.
He has turned his passion for fishing into one of the
best fishing experiences on Kauai.
Note: Ninety per cent of all of our
charters are staffed by two licensed captains. If for
some reason you have a captain and a deckhand instead
of two captains, we will give you an extra hour for
fishing, compliments of Action Plus Adventures.
JAY MARSHALL
Jay is from the Daytona Beach, Florida area and has been involved in the fishing industry since 1986 – commercial, charter and tournament sport fishing from the East Coast; from Virginia Beach to the Florida Keys as well as the Bahamas and Hawaii. He has crewed in many prestigious sport fishing tournaments in Florida and has won or placed in many of them. Jay’s extensive traveling and experience has helped him become both knowledgeable and well trained: His enthusiasm and motivation to find and catch fish is second only to his customer service ethics. Jay is also a talented artist and has created the graphics on our Happy Hunter t-shirts, which are available for purchase.
STEVE HYDE
Has been fishing with the Happy Hunter as a client,
as a deck hand, and now as a licensed captain. He has
been with us for the past seven years. Steve is one
of our part-time captains and is employed full time
by the Grand Hyatt Hotel in Poipu. Steve moved to Kauai
in 1998.
LANCE NOJIMA
Is also a part-time captain who has trained with us
for five years. His love of shoreline fishing gravitated
towards off shore big game fishing. Lance acquired his
captain’s license in 2005. Lance is a lifelong
local resident of Hawaii.
CAROLE SHIGEKANE
Wife of Captain Harry Shigekane, she is also a licensed
captain who likes to tag along when she is not working
at her full-time position with the Department of Homeland
Security.
